Fixed telephone service
固定電話 kotei denwa
A telephone service associated with a home or business location, delivered over analogue copper, fibre/IP, CATV or a mobile-network adapter.
Compare more than the monthly fee: number portability, 110/118/119 behavior, fax and alarm compatibility, caller ID, call forwarding, international calls, numbers that cannot be dialled, power-failure operation and equipment return.
Mobile-network fixed-phone products are easy to install but depend on radio coverage and mains power. Fibre and CATV phones depend on their terminal equipment and access network. Keep a charged mobile phone as a separate emergency route.
