eSIM
eSIM ī-shimu
A SIM built into the phone that you activate by scanning a code or through an app — nothing physical is shipped.
An eSIM is downloaded to a compatible phone. Activation can be near-instant, which suits online-only plans. Downsides: moving an eSIM to a new phone is a procedure in itself, and not every device or every plan supports it.
