Installment payment
分割払い bunkatsu-barai
Paying for a device in monthly amounts (commonly 24 or 36) instead of all at once. A credit check may apply.
The device installment is separate from your mobile service fee, even though they often appear on one bill. If you cancel the service, the remaining device balance usually still has to be paid. Some programmes let you return the device after a set period to skip the final payments.
