Telephone universal service fee
電話ユニバーサルサービス料 denwa yunibāsaru sābisu ryō
A small charge linked to each eligible telephone number that helps maintain nationwide basic telephone services, public telephones and emergency-call access.
The support system helps cover the cost of providing basic telephone services throughout Japan, including subscriber telephone service, public telephones and access to 110, 118 and 119. A phone company may show the amount as a separate line, include it in another fee, or not charge it for a particular service.
The per-number amount is reviewed, so do not treat an old invoice or an amount quoted on this site as permanent. Check the current amount and charging method on your carrier's official fee page.
