How a fiber contract and installation proceeds

  1. Check the exact address and building. In an apartment, ask the manager which fiber equipment and plan type are already installed.
  2. Get the owner or manager's permission before work that drills, screws, routes a cable or enters a common equipment room.
  3. Apply with your address, identity/payment details and information about the current service. Use 'conversion' or 'provider change' when eligible instead of applying as a completely new line.
  4. The operator performs an address and facility survey, then offers a construction date. Confirm attendance, weekend/night surcharges, initial cost and cancellation terms before accepting.
  5. On the construction day, keep access to the room, wall outlet and common areas. After the ONU/router is installed, set up Wi-Fi and test speed by wired connection as well.
  6. Cancel the old service only after the new line works. Return all rental equipment and check old-line cancellation, construction balance, phone-number transfer and removal work separately.
Do not cancel the old line firstAvailability results and estimated dates are not the same as completed construction. Keep the old line until the new ONU/router is online, especially if you work from home or need a fixed telephone number.

Electricity and gas plans by carrier group

Monthly adjustment rates change, so the calculation method and service area are as important as the plan name.

ServicePlansHow the bill is calculatedApplication / work
DOCOMO DenkiBasic M (10–60A) / L (6kVA or more); Green M/L is the Basic tariff plus ¥500/month and uses non-fossil certificates for effectively zero CO₂ electricity.Prices differ by regional utility area. Bill = basic/minimum charge + kWh charge + fuel-cost adjustment + renewable-energy levy. The fuel adjustment is not capped.Prepare the supply-point identification number and customer number from a recent bill. A normal switch uses the same wires and usually needs no construction; a smart-meter exchange may be arranged.
DOCOMO GasRegional city-gas plans supplied in Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas and Toho Gas areas. Available menus follow each regional supplier; for example, Osaka's bundle menu requires DOCOMO Denki.Bill = usage-tier base charge + adjusted per-m³ charge. Raw-material adjustment changes monthly, so the exact unit charge shown for one month is not permanent.City gas only; LPG is not eligible. Switching at the same address normally needs no pipe work. At move-in, gas opening and a safety inspection usually require attendance.
au DenkiDenki M (ordinary household) / L (6kVA or more), eco M/L, and all-electric plans in supported areas. The exact menu depends on the regional utility area and current contract.Regional base/minimum and kWh charges plus fuel or market adjustment and the renewable-energy levy. Points alone do not prove a lower annual bill.Apply with the supply-point ID and au ID. A normal switch has no interruption or wiring construction; bulk-supply apartments and some time-of-use plans may be ineligible.
City Gas for auA regional brand rather than one nationwide plan. Availability and plan name depend on the local city-gas area and partner supplier.Usage-tier base charge + per-m³ charge + monthly raw-material adjustment. Compare against the exact current regional gas menu.Normal switching at the same address does not replace the pipe. Moving in requires an opening appointment and safety check; LPG and unsupported city-gas areas are not eligible.
SoftBank ElectricityOuchi Denki, Kurashi Denki and Shizen Denki are offered by area and eligibility; some areas use names such as Ouchi Denki Powered by Kansai. Not every plan is open in every region.Base/minimum + kWh + fuel or market-linked adjustment + renewable levy. In some Tohoku, Tokyo, Kansai and Kyushu menus, a market-linked adjustment is included.Check the current acceptance area and terms before applying. Ordinary switching keeps the local grid; check whether a mobile/internet set benefit requires combined billing.
SoftBank GasSoftBank Gas Powered by TEPCO or Powered by Kansai is available only in the relevant supported city-gas areas; there is no single nationwide gas plan.Regional usage-tier base charge and adjusted per-m³ rate. Unit prices move with the raw-material adjustment.Use the regional eligibility check. Same-address city-gas switching normally has no pipe construction; move-in opening normally requires attendance.
Rakuten DenkiPlan S for ordinary households, Plan M for high kVA use, Power Plan, all-electric plan, and Renewable Plus option. Plan S has a ¥0 base charge.Plan S per kWh: Hokkaido ¥43.00; Tohoku ¥37.40; Tokyo ¥36.85; Chubu ¥37.78; Hokuriku ¥36.10; Kansai ¥33.98; Chugoku ¥38.70; Shikoku ¥36.20; Kyushu ¥38.15. Add monthly market adjustment and renewable levy.Web application and credit-card payment are the standard route. There is no cancellation charge. A normal supplier switch needs no wiring work.
Rakuten GasOne Plan S by region: Tokyo Gas area, Toho Gas area and Kansai Electric city-gas area. Tokyo follows Tokyo Gas General, and the other areas follow the specified partner menu.Usage-tier base charge + per-m³ rate adjusted each month. The displayed unit rate changes with raw-material costs.City gas only and area-limited. A same-address switch normally needs no construction; gas opening after a move may require attendance. Check whether the old provider charges a cancellation fee.

How electricity and gas switching proceeds

  1. Use a recent bill to confirm the current plan, contract amperage/kVA, annual kWh or m³, customer number and supply-point identification number.
  2. Check that the address, meter and current plan are eligible. Apartments with bulk electricity, LPG, special time-of-use contracts and business contracts may not qualify.
  3. Compare an annual estimate including fuel/raw-material or market adjustment and the renewable levy—not only points or the first-month campaign.
  4. Apply to the new supplier. For an ordinary switch at the same address, the new supplier normally handles the old contract and no power/gas pipe construction is needed.
  5. For a move, arrange electricity start and gas opening separately. Gas opening and safety inspection normally require an adult to attend.
  6. After the first bill, check the plan, set discount, payment method and adjustment unit prices. Mobile cancellation does not normally cancel the utility contract automatically.

Fiber and home router are not interchangeable

Fiber needs address availability, owner permission and sometimes construction; opening can take weeks but a wired connection is usually more stable. A 4G/5G home router starts sooner but depends on indoor signal, congestion and the registered installation address. Device installments can continue after cancellation.

Electricity and gas prices depend on the home

Region, amperage, kWh/m³, fuel or raw-material adjustment, renewable levy, market-linked terms and campaigns affect the bill. Use the official simulator with a recent bill and compare the annual total—not only points or one headline discount.

Financial products require separate judgment

Check deposit protection, fees, post-promotion interest, investment risk, tax account, insurance exclusions and language support. Never share a bank PIN, securities password or one-time code with carrier-shop staff.

Before cancelling mobileFor every linked service ask whether it ends, continues at a new price, loses points, changes login or needs separate cancellation. Update two-factor authentication and use a non-carrier email first.
