MNPとは？
MNP（携帯電話番号ポータビリティ）を使うと、携帯会社を変えても電話番号をそのまま使えます。仕組みと、MNPではないものを説明します。
MNP (Mobile Number Portability) lets you move to a different carrier or brand and keep your phone number. In Japanese shops and advertisements it is commonly called 乗り換え (norikae, switching carrier). You begin the process with your current carrier.

The steps
- From your current carrier, get an MNP reservation number — or use one-stop MNP, where the new carrier pulls the details for you.
- 予約番号の有効期間内に、乗り換え先の通信事業者へMNPとして申し込みます（オンラインまたは店頭）。
- Choose a plan and, if you want, a device.
- Complete identity verification and payment setup.
- Activate the new SIM or eSIM. Your old line stops when the new one activates.
How to get your MNP number
You start this with your current carrier. One-stop MNP lets you skip the number entirely with participating carriers.
One-stop MNP (ワンストップ): with participating carriers you do not need a reservation number at all — you begin at the new 通信事業者で手続きを開始し、旧通信事業者から情報を取得することを許可します。利用可否は両方の通信事業者と申込方法によって異なります。

日本でキャリアを乗り換えても電話番号を引き継ぐには？
MNP（携帯電話番号ポータビリティ、一般に「乗り換え」）を使います。現在の通信事業者からMNP予約番号を取得するか、新しい通信事業者が情報を取得するワンストップMNPを利用します。その後、新しい通信事業者にMNPの顧客として申し込み、新しいSIMを開通させます。新回線が開通すると旧回線は停止します。
ワンストップMNPとは？
対応する通信事業者どうしなら、予約番号は不要です。新しい通信事業者側で手続きを始め、旧事業者から情報を取得することを承認します。利用できるかどうかは、両方の事業者と利用する窓口によって決まります。
MNP予約番号の有効期限は？
通常15日間です。新しい通信事業者は、残り日数の下限を設けていることがあり、オンライン窓口では10日以上を求める場合もあります。申込前に期限が切れた場合は取り直します。予約番号を発行しても現在の回線は解約されません。
MNPに費用はかかる？
MNPの発行や利用は通常無料ですが、新しい通信事業者が通常の契約事務手数料を請求することがあります。キャリアメールのアドレスを使っている場合は、乗り換え前に、その事業者の有料のメールアドレス持ち運びサービスと申込期限を確認してください。
旧回線はいつ使えなくなる？
新しいSIMまたはeSIMが開通した時点です。それまでは旧回線が有効なので、乗り換えの途中で通信ができなくなることはありません。開通は、新しいSIMが届くかeSIMプロファイルが発行された後に自分で行う手続きです。
