店頭独自の「頭金」

一部の店舗が端末価格に上乗せする前払い額です。通信事業者ではなく店舗が設定する販売手数料で、端末代金の一部に充当される保証金ではありません。

日本の携帯電話販売でいう「頭金」は、後の支払残額を減らす一般的な頭金とは異なります。一部の代理店や家電量販店が端末価格に上乗せする販売手数料で、店舗や機種によって数千円から20,000円を超える場合があります。

Because the carrier does not set it, the same phone can have a different 頭金 — or none — at another shop, at a directly-operated store, or online.

Ask before you agree: "Is there a 頭金 on this phone, and how much is it?" Sometimes it is reduced or removed if you add certain paid options — weigh whether those options are worth it.

Carrier online stores and online-only plans generally have no 頭金.
